Some parental control and system monitor programs present unique challenges with regards to malware detection.  Because these programs can be used for both legitimate and malicious purposes, Webroot SecureAnywhere may detect them as threats and attempt to remove them.

If you are attempting to use such a program legitimately, Webroot SecureAnywhere provides the option to override detections locally. The following steps should be sufficient to enable a parental control or other system monitor program to download, install and run correctly.
  1. First, if the downloaded installer file is quarantined by Webroot SecureAnywhere, you will need to access the quarantine to restore the file. You can access the quarantine by opening SecureAnywhere and navigating to PC Security > Quarantine > View Quarantine. Now locate the file you want to retrieve, check the box next to it, and click Restore.
     
  2. After restoring the installer, you can launch it. The Webroot program may detect certain files associated with installation. If these files are listed in the Threats Found window, uncheck the box or boxes in the Remove column and click Next.

    If these files are quarantined automatically, use the instructions in Step 1 to retrieve them.
     
  3. Subsequent scans may detect other files. Repeat the instructions in Steps 1 and 2 to remediate these detections as needed.
     
  4. Once all possible detections are addressed, you may restart the computer, should the program you are installing require this step for installation.
     
  5. If, after restarting, the program does not launch successfully, try running the installer again. By this point, all possible detections should be allowed, and the installation should complete.  The program will launch correctly after this occurs.
