Summary:

Your computer's overall protection status causes the system tray icon and the main interface to change colors:

Color Cause
Green This means your computer is secure.
Yellow This indicates that one or more potential threats require your attention.
Red This means one or more critical items require your intervention.

On your computer, you can view details about the current status and settings by right-clicking the Webroot icon in the system tray and then selecting View Status for Windows and Open Webroot SecureAnywhere on Mac.

Scans automatically run every day at about the same time you installed Webroot. For example, if you installed Webroot at 8 p.m., Webroot always launches a scan around 8 p.m. It will not disrupt your work, nor will it launch while you play games or watch a movie.

For Windows, the default Deep Scan searches all areas where potential threats can hide, including drives, files, and system memory. It looks for items that match Webroot threat definitions, match descriptions in the Webroot community database, or exhibit suspicious behavior. For Mac, the default scan type is a Full Scan.

Running a manual scan

A manual scan may be necessary after browsing high-risk websites or downloading high-risk software. Immediate scans can be launched at any time.

To launch an immediate scan, open Webroot and click Scan My Computer on the main page.

Viewing scans

The scan statistics will be listed on the Webroot User Interface's main page.

  • Last Scan - This indicates the amount of time since the last scan was completed.

  • Last scan duration - This indicates the length of time it took for the scan to complete.

  • Next scan - This indicates how many hours before the next scan. Generally, 24 hours from the last manual or automatic scan.

  • Total scans - The total number of automated and manual scans that have been completed on the device since Webroot was installed.

  • Threats removed - The total number of threats removed since Webroot was installed.

  • Subscription - This indicates the amount of time remaining on the subscription.

Running a manual scan generates a Scan Progress window. The window can be hidden on both Windows and Mac without canceling the scan. Automated scans do not generate a Scan Progress Window and run silently in the background.

Saving scan logs

If you want to review what Webroot scanned and what may have been found, you can save a scan log. Use this log when working with Webroot Support to determine the cause of a problem.

Windows

  1. Right-click the Webroot icon in the system tray and select "Save a Scan Log".

  2. In the File Explorer window, select a location to save the logs.
    • We recommend selecting an easily accessible location, such as your desktop.

Apple

  1. Open Webroot SecureAnywhere.

  2. Click the gear next to "Utilities" and then on the Reports tab.

  3. Click on Save Scan Log.

  4. In the Finder window, select a location to save the logs.
    • We recommend selecting an easily accessible location, such as your desktop.
