The Webroot Web Threat Shield is a browser add-on that is added automatically when Webroot is installed. The add-on provides "annotations" or a check mark, warning, or stop symbol to indicate if search results are Safe, Cautionary, or Bad.

Additionally, the add-on allows Webroot to generate a block page when accessing a potentially malicious site.

What do the various icons mean?

The Web Threat Shield will generate an icon for web results to indicate their Safety rating.

Yellow means the site is generally safe, but could have advertisements or links associated with unknown sources.
Red means the site has been reported as linked to phishing or other malicious activity.

What search engines are supported?

Currently, the Webroot Web Threat Shield is only supported with the Google, Bing, and Yahoo! search engines.

Note: DuckDuckGo and Yandex are not supported; therefore, it is expected that the Web Threat Shield would not be able to display search results annotations while using either search engine.
